Slow Burn

Two guarded people who found each other. The Hopeful Cynic and the Soft Skeptic understand each other without a dictionary, need the same amounts of space and stillness, and both hide a tender, sentimental center behind a composed exterior. This is a pairing that starts slow, almost suspiciously quiet, and either deepens into one of the most solid, safe connections either has ever known, or thins out into a comfortable silence that neither knows how to break. The love they can build is the love of two people who have seen each other's walls and respect them, and eventually, if they're brave, help each other take them down. The work isn't finding each other; that part is done. The work is agreeing to say the unsayable out loud, on purpose, and letting the slow burn finally catch.
