Find your personal vibe and compare it with friends

Most personality tests sort you. You work through a stack of questions, you come out as a code or a colour, and the description you are given is the same one that everybody else with that code was given. It is a sensible way to compare populations. It is a poor way to describe a person.

TypeVibe starts from your answers instead of from a taxonomy. It reads all fifty of them as one picture, works out what sort of person answers that way, and writes that person up: what they are like, what they are good at, what it costs them, how they behave when something uncomfortable happens. The result has a name of its own and enough detail to surface habits that are hard to put into words.

The other half of TypeVibe is everyone else. Any two reports can be read together as a vibe check, which describes the relationship rather than the individuals in it.

None of them ask you to rate a statement from one to five. Self-ratings measure your self-image, which is the thing you were hoping to see past. The questions describe situations instead. A friend being talked about while they are out of the room. A plan quietly falling apart in a group chat. A decision nobody wants to be the one to make. What you would do is easier to answer honestly than what you are like, and it gives away more.

Two small things do a lot of the work. If none of the answers is yours, write your own and it is read like any other answer. If a question has nothing to do with your life, replace it. A question you answered badly because it was not about you is worse than one you never saw.

The free part is your identity: an archetype with a name you would repeat out loud, a colour, an emoji, a motto and a written summary of who you are. It arrives a couple of minutes after you finish the quiz, and it is the part that travels - the thing you send to a friend or post somewhere.

Behind the summary sits the long version, and it is less flattering. It covers how you communicate, how you decide, how you approach a problem, how you learn, how you are with a partner, with family, with friends and at work, and where your growth honestly lies. Every section is written from your answers rather than assembled out of stock paragraphs, which is why the weaknesses tend to land as hard as the strengths. That part is a one-off payment, for the report you want it on.

Compatibility quizzes usually give you a number you had already guessed. The interesting question is not whether two people get on. It is why they get on in the particular way they do, and what keeps going wrong at the edges.

A vibe check reads both personality reports side by side and answers that. It names the dynamic, scores it out of 100, and then explains itself: what genuinely works between you, what will cost you if neither of you brings it up, and how each of you should raise something difficult with the other, down to the wording to use and the wording that will make it worse. It knows whether it is looking at partners, friends, siblings, a parent and a child or two colleagues, and it reads each of those differently.

It is also willing to tell you that a pairing is pleasant but shallow, or that the thing sitting between two people is not going to resolve on its own. A compatibility report that only ever delivers good news is not worth reading.

TypeVibe uses AI to do the writing, and it is worth being plain about what that means. There is no scoring key underneath and no library of pre-written types. Your answers are read as a whole, contradictions included, and turned into prose about one person.

That has an obvious consequence: the report is only as good as your honesty. Answer as the person you would like to be and you will get an accurate report about that person instead. Answer as yourself and it tends to be recognisable to the point of being a little uncomfortable.

It also means TypeVibe is not a clinical instrument. It is not a medical or psychological assessment, it is not validated for hiring, and it diagnoses nothing. It is for understanding yourself, and the people around you, a little better than you did yesterday.

TypeVibe is built to make sharing easy, so new reports and profiles start public. If a report on how you handle conflict, or on how you and your partner argue, is not something you want discoverable, you can switch it to unlisted or private at any time. A vibe check belongs to both people in it rather than to whoever ran it, so either of you can change what happens to it.

When you do want to share something, it is built for it: a card made for a feed, a link that looks right in a message. When you want it gone, you can take your data with you or delete it outright.
